One comment we find ourselves making on an almost daily basis at the Hardluck House is that we will only change the world by changing ourselves. If the planet and its people are to be saved it will be through the compassion, innovations, and just plain hard work of individuals and not by any government. And then we chastise ourselves for not doing more. I just want to take the time here to recognize an individual who is stepping up to make a difference in the lives of strangers. He is Jeffrey Strains, and he has organized an online campaign to turn a penny that he found on the sidewalk into 1 million dollars for our nation's hungry food banks. Jeffrey is calling for artists' assistance by donating a piece of artwork, integrated with a penny purchased from the ten dollar donation he received for the original penny. The artwork will then be sold with funds going to purchase food for empty food banks nation wide. Thank you, Jeffrey, for your kindness, ingenuity, and just plain hard work to make this happen.
